Strike continues as ASUU fails to agree with FG again!

The hopes of Nigerian students were crushed again as ASUU failed to agree with FG constituted committee on contentious issues after the popular Thursday meeting.

National President of ASUU, Dr Nasir Fagge, said that the meeting yesterday with FG constituted committee was an inaugural meeting where chairman of the FG constituted committee governor Gabriel Suswan told them how he wanted the assignment to be carried out. The governor said he thinks there should be a sub-committee which would liaise with TETFund (Tertiary Education Trust Fund) and National Planning Commission to get more information on the report submitted by the Needs Assessment Committee and on the basis of that, projects will be identified and will now look for funding.

About ASUU taking a stand, Dr Fagge said there is no change as the meeting just considered one aspect of the agreement which is funding, ASUU members nationwide demands nothing short of full implementation of the agreement before the strike would be called off.

He said ASSU leadership will attend and meeting to which it is invited and will inform members the outcome, but nothing much was achieved in the meeting yesterday order than how to implement the Needs Assessment report which is the funding aspect of the agreement.

This is a disaster for hopeful Nigerian students who will remain at home as the strike enters its second month!
