ASUU Strike: the story continues!


While the minister of education hopes the strike would soon be called off, the minister of finance says government has no resources to meet ASUU's demands and chairman Needs Implementation Committee says some progress has been made as the new episode of ASUU Strike unfolds.

The minister of education, professor Ruqayyatu Rufa'i on Monday while speaking at the mid-term review meeting of the four-year strategic plan of her ministry disclosed her hopes that the meeting between ASUU and FG committee yesterday would go a long way in resolving the crisis.

ASUU orders rejection of Post-UTME results and candidates



ASUU has asked its members in varsities where Post-UTME examinations were conducted during the strike to reject the results and admission of candidates.

This information was passed across in Strike Bulletins five and three, which was signed by its National President, Dr. Nasir Isa. In the bulletin, the Union recommended that members, who took part in the exercise, should be queried and reported to the National Strike Coordinating Committee.

Strange: Siamese twins delivered in Benue state



The issue of Siamese twins is not new to a common Nigerian, but no one expects to see it or have it happen in his or her vicinity. This explains the surprise of Mr Andrew that faithful Thursday (1st August) morning when he was called upon by Saint Daniels hospital authority to make himself available at the maternity ward where his wife Mrs Ene Musa Andrew had just given birth to a Siamese twin through caesarean operation.

Blackberry messenger for android testing started!


For those android and iphone  users who are patiently waiting for the release of famous blackberry messenger BBM, you might not wait much longer as Blackberry says that it has begun internal testing of the BBM app on Android, destined for those that employees have chosen (friends or family). Those people will receive an email allowing them to sign up for BBM and install it on any Android phone running Ice Cream Sandwich or higher. Unfortunately, all the tester slots are full, so there is no way to sign up for it at the moment.

The result of the just concluded Post UTME examination of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede has been released online

To check the result, candidates are to purchase result checking scratch cards (card is N1500 + bank commission). Kindly proceed to UBA Bank, Fidelity Bank or Zenith Bank to purchase Result Checking Scratch cards for Post UTME/HND Screening Exercise.

President Mugabe of Zimbabwe wins 7th term amidst fraud allegations



President Robert Mugabe (89 years) who has been Zimbabwe’s president since their independence in 1980 has won yet another 5 years in office.

Mr Mugabe won 61% of the vote against runner up Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who won 34%. Mr Tsvangirai has earlier alleged that the elections were fraudulent and promised to take legal actions. In results of the parliamentary election conducted this week also, MDC (Tsvangirai’s party) won just 49 seats against ZANU-PF’s (Mugabe’s party) 158.

Unfortunate: 15 youths die prematurely in Plateau

About fifteen children between the ages of 12 and 16 were crushed to death yesterday in Barkin-Ladi, Plateau state by a commercial vehicle carrying maize to a nearby market, nine others were hospitalized.

Zimbabwe election: Roll of registered voters contains 2 million dead people…Says MDC


While 89 year old incumbent president Robert Mugabe of ZANU-PF (Zimbabwe African National union-Patriotic Front) party seeks to extend his 33-year rule, his major opponent, 61 year old Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) party hopes to win the election after three previously failed attempts.


The poll held yesterday is the first election under the country’s new constitution approved in March this year and is expected to end the factitious coalition between ZANU-PF and MDC, which was brokered by regional mediators after disputed elections in 2008 were marred by violence. The coalition found Mugabe as president and Tsvangirai as Prime Minister.

ASUU: No re-negotiation, hopes of strike ending tomorrow shattered

ASUU yesterday rejected Federal Government’s new offer of Enhanced Academic Allowances and insisted that Federal Government should implement the 2009 agreement in full.

Dr Nasir Fagge, national president of ASUU, said that after consultations with branch chairmen of the union on the new government offer, members rejected it saying it amounts to re-negotiations, the opinion of the branch chairmen is that the 2009 agreement should just be implemented rather than making new offers.

ASUU refutes plan to call off strike


As the ASUU strike enters its 27th day, ASUU has shattered the hopes of Nigerian students as it affirms that the news making rounds about ASUU going to call off strike by Thursday is only hypothetical.
ASUU national president Dr. Nasir Fagge expressed his surprise as he heard that the union was going to call off strike on Thursday. This is because according to him the issues between FG and ASUU have not been fully resolved.

High profile hacker Barnaby Jack dies a week before hacking convention



Phenomenal computer hacker, Barnaby Jack was on Thursday found dead at an apartment in Nob Hill neighbourhood of San Francisco.
 Many have been celebrated for several impressive acts, for New Zealand born 35 year old Barnaby, his talent lies in hacking. He was one of the world’s most famous “white hat” hackers – those who use their hacking skills to find security loopholes before criminals can exploit them.

"Apollo Eye" on rapage


Most of us know it by only one name “Apollo”, but the conventional name for the inflammation of the conjunctiva is “Acute Haemorrhagic Conjunctivitis” (AHC), News has it that this eye infection is currently affecting people...beware!
The conjunctiva is a thin transparent tissue that covers the white part of the eye (Sclera), it helps to lubricate the eye by producing mucus and tears. AHC starts as reddening of the eye and could be caused by bacterial or viral infection.
Acute Haemorrhagic Conjunctivitis is recognized by affected individuals as they wake.

Crisis:Over hundred people killed in Egypt


In reaction to the removal of Egypt’s president Mohammed Morsi on 3rd July, His supporters have killed more than 100 and injured over 1000 people at a protest in Cairo.

President Morsi has been previously accused of murder relating to 2011 jail outbreak and involvement with militant group Hamas.

ASUU strike may end soon!!!




The 24 day old industrial action continues even as ASUU and FG burst students' bubble yesterday, but there are signs that the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may be called off next week.
